We are a fully licensed business based in Somersworth NH.We offer repair, modification, and restoration of all types of fretted instruments, as well as hand built electric guitars and basses.
We are currently expanding into the online sales of parts, kits, etc.

Tom Alley has over 35 years experience as a professional guitar tech, and musician. He attended Berklee College of Music in 1984-1985.
In his twenties he was fortunate enough to study with Eric Miller at “Hands On Guitars” and work in at the repair dept. of a high end acoustic shop, “The Music Emporium” in Cambridge, MA. He went on to perf

In his twenties he was fortunate enough to study with Eric Miller at “Hands On Guitars” and work in at the repair dept. of a high end acoustic shop, “The Music Emporium” in Cambridge, MA. He went on to perform contract work for several independent stores, as work as an employee at larger chain stores.
Eventually economic reasons caused him to leave the trade, and he went on to work in the biomedical and manufacturing fields.
Throughout this time, instruments remained his passion, and he still worked on them on the side, in the limited space that he had. As he did this, he dreamed of the day he could open a “real” shop.
In 2023 things changed, He and his wife and bought a home in Somersworth, NH. that gave him enough space to set up a shop.
He filed with the State Of New Hampshire, Formed an LLC, and got a permit from The City.
East St. Guitars LLC was born.
